According to USA Today, Baxter County is the best place in Arkansas to retire. In the article, 24/7 Wall Street created an index of 17 health and economic factors in U.S. counties and areas considered equivalent to counties by the U.S. Census Bureau. Counties where the population of residents 65 and over grew as fast as the nation and were larger than the national average were considered.

With a population just over 41,000 30.5% of the residents are at least 65 years old which is the highest of all 75 counties in Arkansas. Here are the other highlights of the report:

According to the National Institute of Aging, baby boomers are entering retirement at a record of 10,000 people per day. By 2030, 20% of the U.S. population will be elderly Americans up from 15% in 2015.
